The American Legion Post 404 invites you to attend this year’s Veterans Day Ceremony at Veterans Community Park on November 11th at 11:11 AM.
This family-friendly event is open to the public, and all are welcome to join in the patriotic festivities.
This year’s ceremony is extra special as it will additionally entail the formal dedication of the brand-new Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This memorial has been years in the making, and its historic arrival to Marco Island has made it the largest bronze-cast memorial for the Vietnam War in all of North America!
“The Memorial is a labor of love from our team of contractors and American Legion members who dedicated their time and resources to make it happen,” said Joe Verano, an American Legion member who greatly contributed to the memorial’s fruition.
The ceremony will take place on the Farmer’s Market grounds. There will be no market on this day out of respect. Guests are asked to bring their own chairs.
Attendees can expect moving speeches, patriotic music, and a flyover by the VR-62 Support Squadron C-130 Transport Aircraft.
There will be several local, county, and state dignitaries and politicians in attendance, and residents and guests alike are invited to take part in honoring, remembering, and celebrating the men and women who serve and have served our country.
“After the ceremony, all are invited to visit the memorial. Legion members will be on hand to show you around and answer any questions. We encourage you to leave your personal remembrance mementos on site.” Added Terry Kehoe, another member of the American Legion who has worked tirelessly throughout the journey to make this dream of a memorial a reality.
