Citizen Engagement Survey Results on City Website

Posted

In September the City partnered with OnPointe Insights to develop and implement a citizen engagement survey. The survey was open for participation from September 24th – October 12th and received 2,471 responses. The results are now available on the City’s website here: FL Marco Island 2026 CityPOV | Displayr.

Survey results showed that 77% of respondents consider the City of Marco Island better than nearby communities with beaches, natural resources, safety and cleanliness receiving positive feedback. However, 56% of respondents believe the City is headed in the wrong direction with a focus on over-development, traffic congestion and concerns about City government. Canal water quality, and growth and density were among the top concerns for residents. Other notable priorities included bicycle and
e-bike safety and maintaining city infrastructure.

The survey confirmed that funding police, fire and public works were important to residents, and events like the farmers market and concerts in the park are highly valued by the community. The City staff will follow up with social media posts and press articles helping to inform residents about revenue options, water quality initiatives, and upcoming infrastructure projects.

Thank you to those who took time to participate in the survey. Input from the residents helps guide the priorities of the City Council and staff.
