Yvette Benarroch campaigned as a Trump and DeSantis supporting Republican in her race for House District 81. But she has already betrayed the voters. She voted against the Governor and his strong pro-Trump immigration bill, which would have required every level of FL government to work with ICE to rapidly deport criminal illegal aliens, end in-state tuition and other benefits for illegals, and also require proof of citizenship to be eligible to vote in our State. Instead of strengthening our immigration laws, she voted with the Democrats and House leadership to undercut President Trump and the Governor by weakening current law significantly, making us, in the words of Gov. DeSantis, “a de-facto sanctuary state.”
In reality, her vote isn’t surprising. The pro-amnesty and open borders cabal Americans for Prosperity (a huge never-Trump business lobby) spent more money on her campaign than on any race in the entire State in the last election. She is well aligned with their agenda and has already proven in a very short period of time that their investment in her campaign was well justified. When given the chance, she has chosen illegals over the Collier County citizens who elected her. When she and I debated in the last campaign, I advocated for most of the provisions included in the Governor’s legislation, while she showed no interest in vigorous state action to address the border disaster, repeatedly stating that it was a “federal issue.”
Benarroch has cast her lot with the open borders big business crowd and against our President, Governor and the hard-working citizens of our country. Voters need to remember this betrayal when she seeks our votes again in the future.
