Marco Island has been part of my life for nearly 40 years. I was born and raised here, spent some time away, and always hoped I would have the chance to come back and raise my own family on this Island.
Today, my wife and I are doing exactly that. Our twin boys are fifth graders at Tommie Barfield, I coach their soccer team, and I run a second-generation family business that has been part of Marco Island for more than 40 years. This community is home in every sense of the word.
Because of that, I think a lot about what Marco will look like 10, 20, and 30 years from now. I want it to remain a place my boys are proud to call home and, someday, a place they might choose to raise families of their own.
That will require thoughtful long-term planning and people willing to have serious conversations about the future of our roads, parks, facilities, finances, and quality of life.
Jason Bailey has spent years serving on Marco Island’s Planning Board, including as its chair. That experience has given him firsthand exposure to the city’s planning process, Comprehensive Plan, codes, and the complicated decisions that come before local government.
I encourage my friends and neighbors to learn about Jason, his experience and his ideas. If you do, I believe you will see what I see…a great candidate for Marco’s future and deserving of your vote. He will certainly have mine.
