Why?

As the heat of summer continues, so does the heat build among residents of our fair isle as they try to understand the issues simmering at City Hall while attempting to find facts hidden by obfuscations, intentional or otherwise. 

Start with the annual audit report and its charges of Material Weakness and Designated Weakness. In layman's terms it means the City internal governance and reporting systems are at best chaotic and MUST be corrected. The responsibility for this situation starts and ends with THE CITY MANAGER. Read the job description and that position is responsible for everything that takes place in the practice of city governance. 

Add to that other charges that created turmoil amongst the current sitting Councilors. 

Two large generators that remained inoperative for two years. Why?  

Five of seven bridges deemed unsafe by the State are located here on Marco Island. Why?  An Airnasium and Racquet Ball building that has to be torn down due to years of a lack of proper maintenance. Why?  

Mackle Park an eyesore because of past years of neglectful maintenance despite citizen demands for fixes and repairs, especially to the heavily used bocce courts. Why? 

Four city fire engines ALL out of commission at the same time. Why? 

The termination of an outstanding Parks and Recreation employee despite a petition of citizens. Why? 

 All you people who often appear to be low-information voters better start paying close attention because if you do not, this fair City is only going to continue its downward spiral. We are ALL in this situation together, and it is time to stop "suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, and by opposing, end them."
