In 1960, I came to Marco Island and discovered paradise. When I returned with my wife in 1982, I saw a changed island but still a paradise. We bought a condo. We became full-time residents in 2002 when we bought our home.
Over the past 66 years, Marco has evolved. Almost 30 years ago, it became a city with its own police and fire departments. Our community has been enhanced by the addition of Veterans Community Park. Our water ecology has improved by replacing septic tanks with a sewer system. Our commercial base has grown for the benefit of residents and visitors by creating destinations like the Esplanade. All of this has happened despite objections to “overdevelopment” with legitimate controversy. However, all of these changes are compatible with the Mackle Brothers’ vision of a community comprised of full-time residents and visitors with a business community to support them, while retaining a small-town atmosphere.
It takes leaders who give time, energy, and commitment and are willing to make difficult decisions that enhance our community and make it the place we want to live.
Therefore, I ask you to vote for those who already have proven their commitment to Marco Island:
Darrin Palumbo-longtime community engaged resident, current chairman and member of the City Council.
Jason Bailey- longtime resident and businessman on Marco, current chairman and longtime member of the Planning Board.
Chris Rici- successful entrepreneur, financially competent, with service on Marco Advisory Committees.
