Being sick, aging, or struggling in America is too often framed as a personal failure. Needing help is dismissed as weakness, while wealth is treated as virtue and poverty as fault. That mindset ignores a basic truth: none of us survives without support, and it shows up in our policies.
Florida’s Amendment Three, the 2026 property tax amendment, reflects this “you’re on your own” approach. By cutting property taxes without replacing the revenue, it does not eliminate costs. It shifts them. Renters, local businesses, and working families will feel it through higher fees and rising prices, while essential services are stretched thinner.
That means fewer resources for emergency response, road and bridge maintenance, environmental protection, and the parks and other public spaces that make our communities livable.
If we want real communities, not just isolated households, we must invest in them and defend the public budgets that keep them functioning for both our year-round neighbors and the seasonal residents who depend on this place while they are here.
Vote NO on Amendment Three.
