If I set out to build something, a doghouse or maybe a rowboat, I'll need certain things before I can begin.
Certainly, I must have wood and nails or screws. Shingles for the roof of the doghouse and caulking for the joints of the rowboat. Now add on paint or varnish for the finishing touches and voila, there you have it!
Hmmm, perhaps I've overlooked something. How do I put those materials together to actually construct what I'd imagined?
Well, the answer is TOOLS!!
A saw to get the wood to a usable length and width.
Oh, and I'd need a tape measure to determine those dimensions.
Oh yeah, and a pencil to mark the wood before beginning to saw it.
A hammer or screwdriver to attach those various boards to one another.
And last but not least, a paintbrush and roller to put the icing on my masterpiece.
The thing I want you to understand from my little tale is that if you want to build your tennis game, you'll need certain TOOLS in order to progress through the levels from beginner to intermediate and then to the advanced levels of play.
The game-building process should be very deliberate and focused on fundamental stroke production.
Backhand and forehand groundstrokes and a simple, reliable serve delivery need to be locked in by getting good information about the correct techniques and then PRACTICING THE CORRECT STROKE until you can execute automatically.
If you shortcut that process, the price to pay will be a game that is very tough to upgrade!
Solid tools (strokes) can be scaled to a higher levels of play because those tools (strokes) create predictable Ball flight shapes, and as you progress to higher swing speeds you will actually add safety to your shot !!
Do yourself a favor and load your toolbox with reliable top top-quality tools and you can build a powerful and accurate tennis game on that rock steady foundation.
