Supporting Teri Sommerfeld for City Council

The purpose of this letter is to share why I support Teri Sommerfeld for election to Marco Island City Council.

When I first heard Teri speak at a City Council meeting several years ago, I was struck by her integrity, clarity of thought, and strength of conviction. She has reinforced that first impression ever since. She approaches disagreement with respect, seeks to understand differing perspectives, and works to find common ground.

Throughout her healthcare leadership career, Teri managed substantial budgets, oversaw complex operations, made consequential decisions, and delivered results in demanding environments. She has contributed to local public service through municipal financial oversight, local policy discussions, and community initiatives focused on accessibility and quality of life.

Marco Island must balance the needs of residents and visitors, local businesses, and our coastal environment while preserving its unique character. That takes a long-term perspective, financial discipline, and sound judgment. What gives me confidence in Teri Sommerfeld is how she approaches difficult issues: she comes prepared, challenges assumptions, expects accountability, and focuses on solving problems rather than winning arguments.

Teri Sommerfeld has earned my vote.
