Support for Rick Woodworth

Posted

I am writing to support Rick Woodworth for Marco Island City Council. Anyone who cares about the health of our water knows Rick has been working on this issue for years.

Rick co-founded Clean Marco Waters, a group focused on moving our island's wastewater treatment to the advanced standard our fragile coastal waters deserve. He has helped prepare formal objections to state water quality findings and pushed for implementation of advanced wastewater treatment, work grounded in real engineering studies rather than talking points.

This is not new for Rick. He was appointed to Marco Island's Waterways Advisory Committee in July 2018 and served as its chairman from February 2019 to November 2020. He was reappointed to the committee in 2025 and understands our canals and nutrient problems as well as anyone in local government.

Water quality affects our property values, our tourism economy, and our quality of life. We need a councilor who has already been doing the work, not one starting from scratch. That is Rick Woodworth.
