I support Jason Bailey for Marco Island City Council because I have had the opportunity to know him in a way that goes beyond campaign literature and public meetings.
Jason built our home six years ago, and throughout that process I had a front-row seat to how he conducts himself in business. Construction presents difficult decisions, and situations where doing what is right is not always the easiest or least expensive choice. I watched Jason navigate those situations with integrity, sound judgment, and a strong sense of personal responsibility. It made us proud to say that he built our home.
That experience stayed with me.
Over the years since, we have remained acquainted through the Marco Island community. I have called on Jason for advice and perspective and have seen those same qualities. He is thoughtful, measured, and remarkably calm when others may be reacting emotionally.
I also believe his nearly 30 years on Marco Island are an important asset. Perspective matters. Jason understands not only the issues we face today, but much of the history behind them. That gives him context that cannot be gained simply by studying an issue after deciding to run for office.
I don't expect to agree with every decision made by council members. What matters to me is whether I trust that person's judgment, integrity and motives.
Based on my experience with Jason, I do.
He has my vote for Marco Island City Council, and I think he's worthy of yours.
