Remembering Erik Brechnitz

I had the privilege of serving with Eric Brechnitz on the Marco Island City Council from 2020-2024. I always admired his grace under pressure, quick wit, and extensive knowledge of City and County Government. While we often disagreed on policy issues, I always respected his well-reasoned positions and even-keeled approach to governing. In short, he was a statesman. My only regret is that I didn’t get the chance to serve another four years with him on the City Council. I will miss his presence on the dais.
