As a member of MICA for more than twenty-five years, including twelve years on the Board and ten years as Board President, I feel compelled to comment on the service and dedication of Ruth and Dennis McCann.
For many years, they worked tirelessly on behalf of MICA and its members, contributing countless hours to protect and improve the organization and its facilities. It was deeply disappointing that their extraordinary efforts were not properly recognized when they felt compelled to resign. Equally disappointing was the fact that members were not even notified of their departure.
While the City rightly expressed its appreciation, Ruth and Dennis also deserve the gratitude of those of us who have benefited from their vision, leadership, and commitment. Residents’ Beach and its outstanding amenities, widely regarded as the crown jewel of Marco Island, owe much of their success to McCanns’ hard work and dedication.
I hope MICA members will take a moment to reflect on all that Ruth and Dennis have done for our community and join me in thanking them for their years of service.
I would also encourage community-minded members who care about the future of MICA and its staff to attend the Annual Meeting and consider serving on the Board. Strong community involvement is essential to ensuring MICA’s continued success.
