In Praise of Interim City Manager Lucius

Dr. Casey Lucius is truly a gift to Marco Island. She has proven integrity, transparency, and strong leadership as Assistant City Manager, and now as Interim City Manager. Her ability to think creatively and problem solve is admirable. She makes herself accessible to citizen questions and concerns, as well as public inquiries, through her column in the Coastal Breeze News. It is clear by the scoring of additional candidates that another leader of her caliber does not exist in the application pool. Furthermore, I feel it gracious and out of a pure heart for Dr. Lucius to desire to serve a city with the political climate and division that we continue to display.  I was disappointed that she was not voted in at the last City Council meeting and frustrated by a lack of quality reasoning from Councilor Gray and Councilor Goehler on their dissension. I certainly hope that the Marco Island City Council will unanimously vote her in at their next meeting. I have faith Dr. Casey Lucius will bring the leadership, accountability, and long-term vision that Marco Island so desperately needs, as our next City Manager.
