Collier County recently lost two remarkable leaders whose lives were defined not by titles or recognition, but by service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to others. Dr. Jaclynn Faffer and Howard Weeks each shaped our community in profound and lasting ways, and their legacies will continue to touch lives for generations to come.
Dr. Jaclynn Faffer saw a need where others saw a gap. When seniors in Collier County had nowhere to turn, she built a place of dignity, connection, and care. Through her leadership, what began as a modest vision grew into the nationally respected Baker Senior Center that became a lifeline for thousands. Dr. Faffer did not just create programs. She created community. She reminded us that how we treat our seniors says everything about who we are.
Howard Weeks was equally dedicated to the people he served. A quiet but powerful force, Howard believed deeply in civic responsibility and giving back. He invested his time, energy, and leadership to strengthen institutions that brought people together and made our community better. His work reflected integrity, humility, and a belief that progress happens when people step up, not for recognition, but because it is the right thing to do.
Dr. Faffer and Howard Weeks led with heart. They showed us that true leadership is rooted in service, empathy, and action. As we mourn their passing, we also celebrate lives well lived. Lives that remind us that each of us has a role to play in caring for one another and building a stronger community.
Their examples challenge us to serve with purpose and lead with compassion. That is their enduring gift to us all.
