Free Market Capitalism

Mr. Shaw’s latest editorial continues to display his biased left-sided view of the world. His diatribe suggesting President Trump interferes in free market capitalism because he suggests a company fire an individual who was intricately involved in the lawfare aimed at overthrowing a duly elected president is ridiculous if it wasn’t so dangerous. The left has for decades controlled the major media outlets, allowing them to propagandize and censor information. Mr. Shaw’s editorials highlight this problem even here on Marco Island. The Left gets half a page and a full week to be read before the Right gets to respond with 250 words. 

The truth is President Trump has succeeded in reducing government interference in free market capitalism, requiring 10 regulations be rescinded for every new one implemented. Cutting out green energy mandates forcing consumers and companies to build and buy appliances they don’t want, requiring companies to spend millions/billions to meet arbitrary climate goals. Debanking, a Democrat policy, to eliminate bank services for companies/individuals not in favor by the Dem administration, like gun manufacturers. Mr. Shaw’s statement “they could hire and fire whom we wished” failed to account for the DEI mandates levied by the Biden admin. Trump has removed that interference as well.  

As a small business owner who grew a company from one employee to 165, I had to fund and add staff just to respond to all the regulations imposed by Democrat administrations as my company grew. Mr. Shaw brags he worked for some of the largest corporations which hire lobbyists to help write and structure the very regulations which often hinder the growth of small business competitors.  

Mr. Shaw doesn’t have to wake up every morning thinking about how his companies are thriving in a free market economy. He just has to think about how he will bash Conservatives and in particular, President Trump with his weekly column.
