Charting a New Course for Marco Island

Posted

I did not come to this endorsement quickly. I have served on the Marco Island Planning Board and MICA Board of Directors, attended countless City meetings, reviewed the Coastal Breeze News interviews, and listened carefully to the MICA Candidate Forum.

After all of that, I reached a personal conclusion: Marco Island needs to chart a new course.

I am a practicing attorney and previously served as a state judge, county prosecutor, municipal solicitor, and land-use attorney. Over the years, I have seen government work well, and I have seen it become too comfortable with doing things simply because “that’s how we’ve always done it.” I have seen enough of that.

I believe Dennis Bartolucci, Rick Woodworth, and Teri Sommerfeld offer the experience and judgment needed to help steer Marco in a better direction.

Each built a successful career through education, hard work, increasing responsibility, and execution. At the MICA forum, Dennis brought financial discipline and best practices. Rick brought decades of infrastructure, asset, and organizational management. Teri brought operational leadership and accountability.

I want Council members who respect the law, our Charter, Comprehensive Plan and Code, but who are also willing to question assumptions, challenge the status quo and change course when there is a better way.

Six candidates are competing for three seats. To truly chart a new course for Marco, electing only one or two is not enough.

Marco voters have three votes. Use all three.

Not one. Not two. All three.

On November 3, vote for Rick Woodworth, Teri Sommerfeld, and Dennis Bartolucci.
