September 11 should always be held as a day to honor and respect all those who perished as a result of a cowardly act of terrorism against innocent civilians and the dedicated first responders who lost their lives trying to save as many as they could. And twenty-four years later, citizens of America and all free men and women around the world continue to honor those lost on that day and dedicate their lives to preventing such cowardly acts of terror.
Marco Island Police Chief Tracy Frazzano and Fire Chief Christopher Byrne welcomed guests, first responders, city staff, and others to a morning dedicated to honoring those who answered the call that day, as well as those who supported the recovery efforts afterwards. Included in the ceremony was Fire and Rescue’s “Striking the Four Fives,” a bell tradition signaling that a comrade has fallen in the line of duty.
Chief Byrnes' wife Julia closed out the ceremony with a rendition of Amazing Grace on the violin, bringing the morning’s activities to a close.
