Sunrise Rotary Welcomes Bonnie Thayer of Baby Basics

Marco Island Rotary Club Sunrise continued its “Wake Up to Rotary Speaker Series” with a recent presentation by Bonnie Thayer, Executive Director of Baby Basics of Naples.

Thayer explained that Baby Basics serves low-income working families by providing free diapers and a caring network of volunteers. What sets Baby Basics apart is that its assistance requires that the recipients not be on governmental assistance and show evidence of employment. This practical support helps keep babies dry and comfortable in our working families.

Baby Basics has distributed over 13 million diapers throughout Collier County and Bonita Springs, Florida, since starting local operations 19 years ago. Diapers are distributed at food banks and other locations, including Marco Island, Florida.

Sunrise Rotary President Evelyn Rossetti Ryan explained, “Baby Basics’ philosophy is almost identical to that of Rotary, which is Service Above Self. As we strive to serve our community, Baby Basics has been an important part of our Club’s work.”

Sunrise Rotary meets at Stonewall’s restaurant on Tuesdays at 7:00 AM. Its speaker series continues with upcoming presentations: Dennis Wallace, Rotary District Governor; Ben Bridges, CEO of St. Matthews House and Marco Island Historical Society.
