Marco Island Academy’s super sophomore, Kaden Latreille, has done it again, repeating as Class 1A District 12 golf champion on October 28, at Valencia Golf Club. Latreille shot a course record 63, winning the district championship by six strokes over runner-up Kieran Shaw of Village School.
"And he shot nine under par to win it this year,” said Jerry Miller, MIA athletic director and golf coach.
Latreille turned heads last year by becoming the district champion as a freshman.
“I actually don’t know if this has ever happened before,” Miller said, “where a golfer has won back-to-back district championships as an underclassman. This may be a first. This is a pretty darned competitive golf district.”
Latreille will be competing in the FHSAA state championship, November 14-5, at Mission Resort and Club in Howie-in-the-Hills.
