It was official. The forecast for the day was favorable tides, 1-foot waves or less, mild easterly winds, sunny, and a high of 78! It was going to be a great day for this year’s Marco Island Cruise Club Scavenger Hunt.
Fifty-plus Club members, including friends and family, participated in the competition. They boarded their boats and headed out early in the morning to the starting point for an ETA of 10:00 AM at Sand Dollar Pit, where booklets were distributed and the hunt began.
Each booklet contained detailed clues, riddles, maps, routes, pictures of random objects, and instructions on how to win points and the scoring rules.
The Riddler responsible for a second year in a row was Commodore Tom Stam and Co-captain Host Saylor Stam, once again providing an innovative way for members to connect and work together and have fun. Although it is said that winning is not everything, the competition appears to be more intense each year.
At 1:00 PM, the Captains were instructed to head to the Jolley Bridge and the Crabby Lady in Goodland for lunch, judging, and prizes. Under much scrutiny from the respective crews, judges determined the cash prize winners for first, second, and third place.
A BIG Thank You to all the Judges, MCC Captains, and crews for being such great sports and friendly competitors. The fun only works because you make it so.
