March Luncheon with MIAAOR and Chief of Police

Posted

The Marco Island Area Association of Realtors (MIAAOR) held its March General Membership Luncheon last week at the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort. In recognition of Women’s History Month, the association welcomed Marco Island Police Chief Tracy Frazzano as its guest speaker.

Frazzano, who was appointed Chief in August 2019, made history as the first female Chief of Police for Marco Island. Under her leadership, the Marco Island Police Department achieved its first-ever accreditation through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Prior to joining MIPD, Chief Frazzano served a distinguished 25-year career with the Montclair Police Department in New Jersey, where she rose to the rank of Deputy Chief.

During her presentation, Frazzano addressed a range of topics affecting the community. She warned of current scams targeting residents, including fraudulent water bill notices and fake arrest warrant calls. She also shared recent statistics, noting that Code Enforcement recorded 645 violations in February, while residents reported 45. Of 17 noise complaints received, only seven were deemed valid.

Traffic and safety were also key points of her presentation. Frazzano highlighted the use of license plate recognition cameras on the bridge, which recorded 15,071 northbound vehicles and 13,533 southbound in February. She also touched on ongoing concerns related to traffic congestion, shark fishing activity, and e-bike speeds.

On a lighter note, she introduced a new community initiative aimed at engaging local youth—a collectible trading card program featuring members of the police department. Children who participate will have the opportunity to win prizes.

Frazzano concluded her remarks with thanks to the attendees and she was met with a warm round of applause.
