Loving Tennis at the Y

Posted

The YMCA of Collier County hosted its 35th Annual “Love of the Y” Tennis Tournament on Valentine’s Day weekend, bringing together tennis enthusiasts from across the area for some friendly competition and community camaraderie. Both the Naples and Marco Island campuses saw a turnout of approximately 35-40 players each.

Both sites kicked off the tournament with a social event on Friday evening, setting the tone for an exciting weekend of matches that took place on Saturday and Sunday. The weather cooperated, as participants brought not only their love for the Y but also their passion and love for tennis, to their respective campuses.

“While competition was keen, the camaraderie among the players was evident,” said Jodi Schaufus, tournament director at Marco Island, and Paul Amante, tournament director at Naples. Their teamwork helped make the event run smoothly while keeping the atmosphere lighthearted and fun.

Although the focus of the event was spirited competition, the tournament also served a charitable purpose. In addition to awarding winners in various divisions, any remaining funds will benefit local tennis and PTASH causes in the community.
