Troy Porter, 53, of Port Charlotte, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025. Troy was born August 5, 1971 in Elmhurst, Illinois to Russell and Cynthia Porter.
Troy’s dad, Russell, passed away May 20, 1996. It was a sad time for us, but not like this! Troy has left a space that can’t be filled, and the echoes of his presence will be felt across the state. Troy has been with Award Living Solutions for many years, becoming not only a cherished part of our community but a symbol of strength, kindness, and joy. Over the years, staff and participants from all over the state have had the honor and privilege of knowing him, each one touched by his warmth, his humor, and the quiet courage with which he moved throughout the world. He brought people together. He made everyone laugh and reminded us, simply by being himself, of what it means to live with purpose and compassion. His legacy lives on in friendships he built, the lives he touched, and the love he freely gave. United Church of Marco Island is in the process of picking a date for a service for Troy in their Memorial Garden.
