Patricia Flynn Raney, formerly of Marco Island, passed away in Naples, Florida, on March 12, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born in the Bronx, New York, grew up in Verona, New Jersey, and spent some of her happiest years at Fairview Lake in Stillwater, New Jersey, and on Marco Island, Florida.
On a cold winter’s day in January 1956, she married F. Thomas Raney. They lived and raised a family in Caldwell, New Jersey, and Stillwater before retiring to Marco Island in October 1978. Together, they loved the Florida lifestyle: boating, living near Tigertail Beach, collecting seashells, and socializing with friends. Sadly, Tom passed away in August 1991 at the age of 60.
Pat is survived by her son, Tim (Sherri) Raney of Chesterfield, Virginia; daughter, Tamra Arrand of Cadillac, Michigan; granddaughter, Kelly Arrand of Grand Rapids, Michigan; granddaughter, Katie Raney, and grandson-in-law, Chris Dooley, both of Bastrop, Texas; sister, Dede Esenlohr, of Greendell, New Jersey; and sister, Dawn Flynn, of Stillwater, New Jersey.
Pat will be remembered for motor scootering to Marco Island Historical Society events, Marco Shell Club meetings, Mackle Park canasta games, Sons and Daughters of Erin social gatherings, Island Senior Singles meetings, and Marco Moose trivia nights. Pat volunteered as a Marco Island Historical Society Museum docent and was nicknamed “Wonder Woman” after showing up in costume. She was involved with community activities, including the annual Marco Island Film Festival, the Millennium Celebration, and various tennis tournaments. Over the years, she enjoyed watercolor painting, bowling, volleyball, traveling, calligraphy, watching Jeopardy, and playing Scrabble and Bingo.
Cremation has taken place, and at Pat’s request, there will be no memorial service or funeral. Memorial contributions can be made to the Marco Island Historical Society.
