Camp Able Gets Ready for 2025

For 19 years now, Marco Island has opened its heart and the community to those with diverse abilities to enjoy a special week full of smiles and fun at Camp Able. During the time participants spend here with community volunteers and camp counselors, they enjoy a number of special events which range from swimming, classic car rides, biking, fishing, arts and crafts, movies, bowling, dance parties, talent shows, sing-a-longs, an afternoon at the Marco Movies and the much-anticipated annual talent show on Saturday as the week winds down. It’s a week of fun and unconditional love that becomes the center of the campers' week, and donations flow in over the year from businesses, community groups, and local charitable organizations.

This year the Wesley United Methodist Church once again becomes ground-zero for the weeklong celebration of fun and adventure July 8 through the 12.

Staff members assembled on Sunday, July 6, for training and orientation and were treated to dinner served to them by parishioners from the church as they gathered with other volunteers who will assist them during the week.

“Our entire church and its membership, as well as the community, look forward to this event each year. The warmth and love is truly felt throughout the community as we all look forward to seeing the smiles and emotional appreciation felt by campers, staff and volunteers each year,” said church parishioner Bob Cholka.
