Bubbie’s Bakery Wishes Shalom to Friends

Posted

“Shalom” is a Hebrew word with three meanings: Hello, Goodbye, and Peace.

The Jewish Congregation of Marco Island welcomes year-rounders as well as our seasonal residents to Bubbie’s Bakery on February 1, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, as they once again will present the phenomenally successful event. For those who missed it last year, Bubbie’s Bakery is not your ordinary bake sale; rather, it is an opportunity for friends, regardless of ethnicity or religious persuasion, to enjoy the traditional “Jewish” baked goods such as challah - a traditional Jewish bread used in conjunction with prayer service but also fantastic for sandwiches and French toast, babka bread - rich in cinnamon and melted butter, coconutty macaroons, noodle kugel – a sweet pudding with cottage cheese, sugar, and cinnamon, chicken soup, matzoh balls, strudel and so much more. New this year are potato knishes – savory pockets of potato in a flaky crust. Who hasn’t said, “That’s just the way my grandmother made it?” Gluten-free baked items will also be available. In addition, there will be a café where you can get your fill of bagels and cream cheese, along with coffee and tea, as well as JCMI’s famous Bingo hot dogs with all the fixins’.
