United Church Schedule Change for July 26

United Church of Marco Island (UCMI) has announced a change in its upcoming worship schedule as it continues to support the people of Kerrville, Texas, following the devastating flooding that has impacted the community.

Rev. Jasiel Garcia, pastor of Kerrville Presbyterian Church in Kerrville, Texas, had originally been scheduled to preach at United Church on Sunday, July 26. However, because of the ongoing needs of his congregation and the wider Kerrville community as they continue their recovery from the recent flooding, Rev. Garcia has chosen to remain with his church during this critical time.

"His first calling is to be with his congregation and community," said Rev. Dr. Ed Brandt, Senior Pastor of United Church of Marco Island. "We fully support his decision and continue to keep the people of Kerrville in our prayers as they recover from this tragedy."

Rev. Garcia will now be the guest preacher at both the 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM worship services on Sunday, August 2. During his visit, he will share a firsthand account of the flooding, the impact on Kerrville Presbyterian Church and the surrounding community, and how God has been at work through the compassion and generosity of people from across the country.

In place of the originally scheduled service on Sunday, July 26, United Church will offer a special Service of Song and Scripture, featuring favorite hymns, inspirational Scripture readings, prayer, and moments of reflection designed to offer hope, encouragement, and renewal.

Please note: There will be no 8:30 AM Communion Service on Sunday, July 26. The congregation will gather for a single combined worship service featuring the Service of Song and Scripture.

"We invite our church family and the community to join us for this unique worship experience," said Pastor Brandt. "Music and Scripture have a remarkable way of speaking to our hearts, especially during times when the world around us reminds us of both the fragility of life and the enduring faithfulness of God."

United Church of Marco Island is located at 320 North Barfield Drive, Marco Island. Visitors are always welcome.

United Church of Marco Island is an interdenominational Christian congregation committed to "Celebrating God's Presence and Serving All People."
