Posted

United Church of Marco Island (UCMI) will welcome Rev. Jasiel Garcia, Pastor of Kerrville Presbyterian Church in Kerrville, Texas, on Sunday, July 26, as a special guest preacher and speaker.

Rev. Garcia will preach at both the church's 8:30 AM Communion Service and 10:00 AM Classic Worship Service. Following the 10:00 AM service, he will provide a special presentation and update on the ongoing recovery efforts in Kerrville and the ministry of Kerrville Presbyterian Church in the aftermath of the devastating flooding that struck the region on July 4, 2025.

The flooding, which impacted the Kerrville area and the nearby Camp Mystic community, left many families grieving and displaced. During the crisis, Kerrville Presbyterian Church became a center of compassion and support, assisting distraught families, providing resources, and helping coordinate community care efforts.

United Church of Marco Island responded to the tragedy through financial assistance and prayers for the affected communities. Rev. Garcia's visit will provide members and friends of UCMI an opportunity to hear firsthand how the church and community responded to the disaster and how recovery efforts continue today.

"One of the hallmarks of the Christian faith is standing together in times of crisis," said Rev. Dr. Ed Brandt, Senior Pastor of United Church of Marco Island. "We are honored to welcome Rev. Garcia and hear the powerful story of faith, resilience, and hope that emerged from one of the most difficult chapters in Kerrville's history."

The presentation following worship will include stories from the recovery effort, ways churches worked together to serve those affected, and reflections on where God was present amid tragedy and loss.

The community is invited to attend worship and remain for the special update and discussion following the 10:00 AM service.
