United Church Observing 9/11 Anniversary

Posted

United Church of Marco Island (UCMI) invites the community to a special service of remembrance on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM, marking the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

For many Americans, the events of 9/11 remain deeply personal—a day when time seemed to stop and the nation watched in sorrow. On September 11, 2001, 2,977 people lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93.

Through music, Scripture, and prayer, UCMI’s service will provide a meaningful opportunity for neighbors, families, and friends to gather in reflection and remembrance. The observance will honor those who lost their lives, give thanks for first responders and military personnel, and recognize the enduring resilience of a nation that continues to remember.

“Twenty-five years later, we still carry the memories of that day,” said Pastor Ed Brandt. “This service offers our community a time to pause, pray, give thanks for those who serve, and remember the lives forever changed by the events of September 11.”

All members of the community are welcome to attend.
