Beginning Sunday, May 31, the United Church of Marco Island (UCMI) invites the community to a powerful and engaging new sermon series entitled “Underdogs of the Bible.” This eight-week series will explore the lives of unlikely individuals whom God used in extraordinary ways—reminding us that faith, not status, is what shapes a life of purpose.
“Scripture is filled with stories of people who didn’t look like the obvious choice,” said Rev. Ed Brandt, Pastor. “They were overlooked, underestimated, or unsure of themselves—and yet God worked through them in remarkable ways. Their stories remind us that God still uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.”
The series will be held during Sunday worship at 8:30 and 10:00 AM, offering both inspiration and practical insight for daily living.
Each message will highlight a biblical figure whose limitations became the very place where God’s strength was revealed. From shepherds to servants, doubters to outsiders, this series offers encouragement for anyone who has ever felt like an underdog.
“Whether you feel overlooked, uncertain, or simply in need of hope, these stories speak directly to the heart,” added Brandt. “They remind us that with God, no life is insignificant.”
The United Church of Marco Island welcomes residents and visitors alike to attend.
