Longtime Marco Resident and active Marco Island Yacht Club (MIYC) member Pete Frazier stood front and center amongst his peers at the MIYC during the Friday evening ceremony, which is normally reserved for the retiring of the colors. This was a special evening for Frazier as he was awarded a Quilt of Valor from the Quilt of Valor Foundation for his service to the nation during the Vietnam War. The ceremonial quilt must be “awarded” to the recipient after his or her nomination.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation was established in 2003. Since then, over 327,000 quilts have been awarded in recognition of individuals who have served their nation.
In addition to the Quilt of Honor, Frazier was also awarded a 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Pin for his service during that conflict in addition to a certificate from the Daughters of the American Revolution for his dedication and devotion to the nation he served.
