This year the Preliminary Judging was done on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, December 16, 17, and 18 from 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM each night. The Final Judging of the Top Ten is scheduled for FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20 from 6:30 PM – 10:00. The judges’ bus leaves the parking lot of First Horizon Bank at 6:30 PM.  Traditionally, a car caravan follows the bus to get a first hand view of the Top 10 Homes. All owners of the Top 10 Homes receive a plaque, and the overall winner receives the coveted “yard sign”, a special winner’s plaque, and a traveling trophy sponsored by LCEC.  (LCEC has sponsored the House and Business Decorating Contests on Marco Island for all 31 years of the contest’s existence.)

Businesses were judged separately on their exterior decorations. The business winner receives a plaque and a Yard Sign on December 21. Many previous winners of both home and business contests display their yard signs annually and continue to decorate in the spirit of the season.

Said Committee Chairman Dave Rice, “A total of 1,606 homes were decorated this year—(we count!).”
