Loving a Rainy Night

Posted

Last Saturday was one of those interesting days weather wise. The day didn’t start out bad, but by late afternoon, the sky began to look more ominous. That didn’t deter the staff members, parents, and students from Marco Island Charter Middle School from pitching in to make the Unity Band Shell at the Marco Island Veterans Community Park ready to rock.

This was the second annual Country Jam benefitting the Marco Island Charter Middle School, which sponsored the event to help support the operations of the school. Tickets were available both before the event and at the gate, along with V.I.P. tickets, which provided the opportunity to rest under tents where refreshments were available.

There were also a number of food and refreshment vendors to be found throughout the park, including delicious barbeque from the Smokin Water Buffalo, the 911 Food Truck, and the Marco Island Brewery, which provided liquid refreshment.

In addition to great food and refreshments, early attendees could take advantage of jumping on the mechanical bull or trying their luck with axe throwing.

At 3:00 PM, the Austin James Band hit the stage to jump start the event. They were followed by another local talent, The Jack Shealy Band. The Elliot West Band took over until almost 7:00 PM when the ever-popular Coastal Cowboys hit the stage and brought out the dancers. The finale featured an All-Out Country Jam Session to wrap up the event.

Although it did rain some, those in attendance didn’t seem to let it interfere with the afternoon and evening that featured some great Country-Western entertainment.

Margo Heidenreich, who is the Principal of the Marco Island Charter Middle School, complimented all the volunteers who came out to help man the various stations and assist with the preparations for the event. “We couldn’t have done this without them and those wonderful sponsors who helped to make this such a success, regardless of the little rain that fell in the evening,” said Heidenreich.
