Grumpy Grater sells decorative handmade ceramic saucers with rows of teeth that are used to grate anything from garlic and nutmeg to cheeses and lemons.
“If you’re mincing garlic on your cutting board, you’re flavoring the board,” says owner Bill Gowdy. “If you use a garlic press, two-thirds of that garlic stays right in that press.”
The graters are dishwasher safe and each is sold with a rubber tube to skin garlic cloves and a small brush to gather any grated material from its surface.
When asked if he’s grumpy, Gowdy said, “Yes. I have a kid, and you know, it makes you grumpy. I’m like the Bank of America.”
