Future Scientists Take On Disney

On Saturday, April 25th, thirty-eight of Marco Island Academy’s most passionate scientists embarked on a whirlwind adventure to Disney World’s Hollywood Studios to attend Disney Imagination Campus’ Physics of Disney Parks Workshop. Throughout the workshop, students applied their knowledge of motion, forces, energy, and magnetism to some of the park’s most popular attractions. They also engaged in hands-on demonstrations and a vocabulary review game. Science Instructor, Mr. Swope, and his Science National Honor Society students are eternally grateful for the United Church of Marco Island and Bargain Basket’s support in gifting the amount for the tickets and transportation for the day. Mr. Swope would also like to thank parent and retired school teacher, Mrs. Brigetta Taddei, as well as mathematics instructor, Mr. Zachary Wolfe, for graciously giving their Saturday to chaperone this special experience. Providing real-world experiences and connections with the content being taught in the classroom is just one way Marco Island Academy aims to inspire and equip the next generation of scientists and leaders.
