From Trash to Treasure

You’ve remodeled your home and no longer need the artwork on your walls or the decorative pieces that are on display on your tables. What do you do with them? What about the clothes you no longer fit because you lost weight on your New Year’s diet? Or, what about the Christmas decorations you’ve collected over the years and no longer put out? Do you throw them out? You could give them a new life with a new family. Donate them to the Women of Marco, who host an annual rummage sale to raise funds for missions. The group will be accepting donations February 6 through February 26 in a pod located in the church parking lot at 525 N. Collier Blvd, Marco Island.

The rummage sale has tables devoted to clothing, Christmas decorations, small furnishings and appliances, pictures, frames, kitchenware, toys and games, hardware, jewelry, shells, purses, shoes, lamps, books, and so much more. Set aside time to come explore and find your own new treasures on Saturday, February 28, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 Noon.

“We strive to have something for everyone at the rummage sale,” says Kathy Berner, president of the Women of Marco. “The best part of the rummage sale, aside from meeting members of our community, is that donated items not only get a new life as a new family’s treasure, they enable us to raise money to support missions.”

All items that are not purchased at the rummage sale are donated to St. Matthew’s House for distribution.

In 2025, the event raised almost $9,500, which was distributed to such missions as the Pace Center for Girls, the Shelter for Abused Women & Children, Warrior Homes of Collier, and Valerie’s House, among others. The Women of Marco celebrate the community that made those donations possible and look forward to another successful year of fundraising to support our community.

Mark your calendars for February 28 from 8:30 AM until 12:00 Noon and come join the fun!
