Chris Ricci Announces City Council Campaign

Marco Island resident, local business owner, former Fortune 500 executive, attorney, engineer, community volunteer, and former Coastal Breeze News columnist Chris Ricci today announced his candidacy for Marco Island City Council.

“My campaign is built around a simple principle: Your Voice. Our Priority,” Ricci said. “City government exists to serve its residents, and every important decision should begin by listening to the people who call Marco Island home.”

Ricci stated he is running because Marco Island is entering a critical period where decisions regarding finances, infrastructure, environment, public safety, and future growth will shape the community for decades. After years of studying these issues, serving on City advisory committees, and writing about key local topics, he believes it is time to take the next step in public service.

“I have been privileged to advise, analyze, and advocate on behalf of Marco Island,” Ricci said. “Now I want to help make the decisions. This is about expanding my commitment to service and helping ensure residents receive transparent, thoughtful, and accountable government.”

Ricci has served as Chairman of the Beach and Coastal Resources Advisory Committee, a member of the Audit Advisory Committee, and Commander of the Marco Island Sail & Power Squadron. As a regular columnist for the Coastal Breeze News, he has researched and written about City finances, infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and Advanced Wastewater Treatment.

“Residents deserve representatives who will do the homework, ask difficult questions, explain the tradeoffs, and be clear about why decisions are being made,” Ricci noted.

His professional background spans more than four decades as a senior executive, entrepreneur, engineer, and attorney. He has led organizations through complex financial, operational, legal, and strategic challenges and holds more than 150 U.S. patents. Operating businesses on Marco Island has further reinforced his commitment to preserving the island's character while making balanced decisions that respect residents.

Protecting Marco Island’s environment remains a top priority. “Our waterways, beaches, and natural resources define who we are,” Ricci said. “Protecting water quality isn't simply an environmental issue—it protects our property values, our economy, and our quality of life.”

He also emphasized fiscal responsibility, infrastructure planning, and transparency. “We owe it to future generations to maintain our infrastructure, protect essential services, and keep the City's finances strong through long-term planning and facts rather than slogans,” Ricci stated.

Ricci invites residents to visit www.RicciForMarco.com to review his positions, examine City financial statements alongside his analysis, and learn more about the campaign.

“I will listen carefully, study every issue thoroughly, and make every decision with one question in mind: Will this leave Marco Island better for the people who live here today and for future generations?” Ricci concluded.

Your Voice. Our Priority.
