The Florida Stone Crabbers Association (FLSCA) invites the community to come together for the Blessing of the Fleet, a special event honoring the men and women of Florida’s commercial fishing industry and wishing local fishermen a safe and prosperous season ahead.
The Blessing of the Fleet will take place Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Camellia Street Grill in Everglades City.
Hosted by the Florida Stone Crabbers Association, the event will bring fishermen, their families, local businesses, and community members together ahead of the upcoming stone crab season. The blessing is a longstanding maritime tradition, offering prayers for the safety of those who make their living on the water, calm seas, and plentiful catches.
The community celebration will feature free food and drinks, local vendors, and live music by Aydin Holt. The event will also support Collier County Domestic Animal Services (DAS)through the collection of donations. For generations, commercial fishing has been an important part of the culture, economy, and identity of Everglades City and surrounding communities. The Blessing of the Fleet is an opportunity to recognize that heritage while showing support for the hardworking families who continue the tradition today.
“May the storms be few and the catches be plenty.”
The Florida Stone Crabbers Association welcomes fishermen, families, residents, and visitors to attend and help send the fleet into the new season with the support of the community behind them.
