Back-to-School Bash

Posted

The students of Collier County Public Schools went back to school on August 11, and for most of them, they were not quite ready to say goodbye to summer!

So how about celebrating with a Back-to-School Bash? On August 12, Marco’s First Responders hosted the ultimate party by ringing in the start of the school year for Marco Island students on the campus of the Marco Island Charter Middle School. They welcomed 400+ students and their families to an unforgettable afternoon of water slides, hot dogs, and snow cones, and lots of back-to-school supplies giveaways from community partner Winn-Dixie! They had 500 t-shirt giveaways for Tommie Barfield Elementary School and Marco Island Charter Middle School, and these were so popular that they ran out of the shirts early.

It was a scorching hot and humid afternoon and the students took to the water slides right away. And who doesn’t like snow cones – a chilly way to connect with the students? And when they got hungry, the Marco Island Fire Rescue Department had hot dogs ready! The vibe was part picnic, part cookout, and part snow cone social. The big afternoon finale was the fire department’s tower ladder water bucket dump! What FUN!

A big thanks for the support of the Island Country Club Charitable Foundation, volunteers from the Marco Police Foundation, volunteers from Al’s Pals, Island Bike Shop, and Marco’s First Responders: Marco Island Fire Rescue Department and Marco Island Police Department.
