Arts Center Theatre Welcomes Back Patrick and Dixie Huey

Posted

Get ready for a little love, a lot of laughter, and 15 very different characters when Arts Center Theatre welcomes back Patrick and Dixie Huey to the stage October 2, 3, and 4 for Chameleüns, a weirdly funny love story by Rochelle Burdine and Frank Blocker.

Both Patrick and Dixie Huey are familiar faces to Arts Center Theatre audiences, having each appeared in different productions at the theatre. But Chameleüns marks a special first: audiences will see the real-life couple perform together in a production at Arts Center Theatre for the very first time.

Through a series of hilarious and sometimes delightfully offbeat vignettes, Patrick and Dixie transform into a total of 15 different characters, including infomercial emcees, therapists, performance artists and your not-so-everyday Joes. With each transformation comes a new story, a new personality, and another chance to discover just how strange—and funny—relationships can be.

And who better to tackle the ups and downs of love than a real-life couple?

Patrick and Dixie bring their chemistry, timing, and playful energy to each character, creating a theatrical experience that keeps audiences guessing about who—or what—they will become next. As their characters navigate the often-unpredictable search for connection, the show takes a humorous look at the lengths people will go to find love, hope, and even a little faith.

The premise is wonderfully simple: If at first you don't succeed in a relationship, become someone else. After all, every good shapeshifter knows that sometimes finding the right person means trying on a few different personalities first.

“We were from different corners of the comedy world and wanted to write something that would be fun for the audience,” said playwright Frank Blocker. “Our biggest goal was to entertain and make people laugh, be it giggles, titters, or guffaws—but with plenty of hidden gems for the intellectuals. We’re very happy to have the Hueys. If anyone knows how to adapt to a relationship, it’s a married couple who can work together.”

Whether you're happily partnered, happily single, somewhere in between, or simply looking for a fun night out, Chameleüns offers plenty of laughs and a wonderfully unconventional look at love and relationships.

Performances take place at Arts Center Theatre, located in Marco Town Center at 1089 N. Collier Blvd., Suite 432, Marco Island, on Friday, October 2 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, at 3:00 PM
