Woody — DAS’s Longest-Stay Dog
Woody is a handsome seven-year-old who has been waiting at the shelter for over two years, and it’s easy to see why he’s become a volunteer favorite. His goofy personality, loving nature, and enthusiasm for spending time with people make him a joy to be around.
One of Woody’s favorite things in the world is going for a car ride. He’s an excellent passenger and even participates in Collier County’s Road Dog Program, where he gets to ride along with the county maintenance crew. Those outings are the highlight of his week, and he’s always ready to jump in the truck for his next adventure.
Woody loves long walks, never turns down a treat, and enjoys spending time outdoors. He has a soft spot for water and is perfectly content watching birds and ducks while exploring nature with his favorite people.
He would do best as the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the love and attention, although he has done well around calm, respectful dogs. More than anything, Woody is looking for someone who enjoys the simple things: a walk around the neighborhood, a drive with the windows down, or a quiet afternoon together.
After more than two years of waiting, Woody is ready for a chance to be someone’s loyal companion and best friend.
NBCU Clear the Shelters Market and Adoption Event
We’re also excited to highlight what will be the first and biggest event DAS has ever hosted at the shelter — the NBCU Clear the Shelters Market and Adoption Event on Saturday, August 22.
Clear the Shelters Community Market is coming to Collier County Domestic Animal Services!
Join us Saturday, August 22, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM for our first-ever Clear the Shelters Community Market - a fun, family-friendly event celebrating pets, community, and the joy of adoption!
Spend the day at the shelter meeting adoptable pets, shopping with local animal-focused businesses, enjoying food trucks, and taking part in activities for the whole family. Guests can enjoy giveaways, face painting, temporary tattoos, and our “Adopt a Stuffie” activity where kids can choose and name their very own stuffed animal to take home!
A special thank you to DASH (Domestic Animal Services Heroes) for sponsoring the kids’ activities, including face painting, temporary tattoos, Adopt a Stuffie, shaved ice, and hot dogs!
Confirmed vendors and partners joining us:
As part of NBCU’s Clear the Shelters campaign, adoption fees will be waived Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23, making it easier than ever to welcome a new furry family member home.
"This is an exciting milestone for our shelter as we host our first-ever community market event," said Victoria Juran, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator of Collier County Domestic Animal Services. "The Clear the Shelters campaign is about more than finding homes for shelter animals; it's about creating connections between pets, people and the community. We're thrilled to partner with local businesses to make this a fun, family-friendly event where visitors can meet adoptable pets, support local vendors and perhaps even find their newest family member. Every adoption creates space for another animal in need."
The event is designed to bring the community together while highlighting the importance of pet adoption and supporting local businesses dedicated to animal welfare.
Community members are encouraged to attend, meet adoptable pets, enjoy family-friendly activities, and learn more about the resources available through Collier County Domestic Animal Services.
