A Perfect Pulled Pork Picnic

The Marco Island Sportfishing Club held its annual Pulled Pork Competition Picnic at Sarazen Park. The competition wasn't the "hook 'n line type"; instead, six members were provided with pork butts, and each prepared their butts with their secret ingredients. The six competitors were Dolores Constanzer, Kathy Curtis, Anna Hutchings, Don Jones, Ed Vesely, and Chet Zelesky. We had two judges: “Pops” the Chef at The SpeakEasy and Alex Jimenez, the Executive Chef from Cav’s Restaurant. Prizes were awarded to the top three contenders, who were as follows: First Place - Kathy Curtis; Second Place - Chet Zalesky; and Third Place - Don Jones. The Club had approximately 50 members attend, and the various butts and fixin’s were enjoyed by all.
