YMCA and Marco Rotary

Posted

It’s truly an honor to recognize the Marco Island Noontime Rotary Club for its six decades of Community Service. Rotary has been a driving force for good in our community, and the YMCA is proud to have been a partner in that impact.

At our core, Rotary and the Y share a very similar mission. Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self” aligns beautifully with the Y’s focus on strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Simply put, we both exist to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive.

Over the years, that shared mission has come to life in meaningful and tangible ways here on Marco Island.

Rotary has helped ensure that children in our community, regardless of a family’s ability to pay can experience the joy, growth, and confidence that comes from attending YMCA summer camp. For many of these kids, camp is more than just fun; it’s a safe place to learn, build friendships, and develop skills that last a lifetime. That commitment to supporting youth who need it most mirrors Rotary’s deep dedication to lifting up those in need.

Rotary’s support has also extended into critical health initiatives. Together, we’ve been able to provide programs that support children living with chronic conditions, including diabetes education. These programs not only help kids better understand and manage their health but also empower families with knowledge and confidence, creating healthier futures for all.

In times of crisis, that partnership has proven even more powerful. Following hurricanes and other challenges, Rotary has stood alongside the Y in helping families recover—whether through providing essential supplies or offering financial assistance so families could keep the lights on while getting back on their feet. That is community at its very best.

Rotary has also played an important role in supporting programs like Project Graduation, ensuring that our high school seniors can celebrate this milestone in a safe, positive, and memorable environment. It’s a perfect example of how both Rotary and the Y invest in the well-being of young people at every stage of their journey.

Beyond programs, Rotary’s impact can be seen in the very spaces where we serve. Their support has helped us grow and enhance our facilities, creating welcoming, inclusive environments like our Youth Development Center, where school-age children have access to safe spaces and resources like computer labs to support learning and growth.

And most recently, Rotary stepped forward in a significant way to support our new Healthy Living Center. This exciting addition will expand our ability to serve the community, with a strong focus not only on physical health, but also on social connection, especially for seniors who may be facing loneliness or isolation. It’s a powerful reflection of our shared belief that true wellness includes both body and spirit.

The reality is, the YMCA of today would not be what it is without Rotary and without the dedicated Rotarians who have helped lead, guide, and support our organization over the years. Many of those leaders helped lay the very foundation of what has become a full-service, human services campus—one that serves individuals from early childhood through older adulthood, always with the promise that no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay.

That’s the heart of both Rotary and the Y.

As we celebrate the Marco Island Noontime Rotary Club’s 60-year milestone, we are not only looking back with gratitude but also forward with excitement. Because when organizations like Rotary and the YMCA work together—grounded in shared values and a commitment to service—there is no limit to the impact we can have!
