The Marco Island Shell Club is buzzing with activity as they gear up for an exciting season! Some members are already meeting weekly to create awesome shell art for their upcoming Holiday Shell Art Sale on November 28. The club is a mix of local beachcombers and seasoned collectors, all passionate about seashells, mollusks, marine environments, and shell art. The Club is preparing for its upcoming events by engaging members in creating shell art for sale, supporting marine biology education through fundraising. The club welcomes a diverse group of collectors united by their interest in seashells and marine life. We hope to see you at the Holiday Shell Art Sale!
The club's activities include fun workshops every Friday morning during season from January through March. These workshops lead up to the season’s culminating event, the “Marco Island Spring Expo and Shell Art Sale”, happening on March 13-14, 2026, at the New Life Community Church from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. You'll find all sorts of handmade goodies like jewelry, Christmas ornaments, floral arrangements, creative creatures, mosaics, and tiny creations. The best part? Proceeds from the Expo go towards scholarships for marine educational programs. Plus, you can check out scientific exhibits and vote for your favorite shell art exhibits.
But that's not all! The club is also hosting a smaller event, the Holiday Shell Art Sale, on November 28, 2025, the Friday after Thanksgiving. This sale will be held outside at the New Life Community Church, located at 489 West Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Admission is free, and proceeds will support scholarships, grants, and educational programs related to marine biology. For specific details about the Marco Island Shell Club's scholarship application process, check out their website (www.marcoislandshellclub.com). Scholarship information will be available soon on the website.
This year, the club has introduced some exciting new items for sale, including resin art, decoupage ornaments and jewelry holders, glass and shell trees, mosaic-style decorated items, flower arrangements, the popular 12 Days of Christmas boxed set of ornaments, as well as some previously seen favorites. It's a perfect opportunity to get your holiday shopping done early while supporting a great cause!
Mark your calendars for these two fun events that you don’t want to miss! Check out the Club’s website or Facebook page (MarcoIsland_ShellClub) for more exciting events that are interesting and free, and the public is welcome to attend some of them. The calendar tab on the website gives more detailed information about presentations hosted by Shell Club members as well as seminars held monthly during season at the Marco Island Public Library. The Club’s members are a group of talented people who can transform shells into beautiful creations. Members follow the Shell Collectors Code of Ethics, and they protect and preserve live mollusks for the benefit of generations to come.
The Holiday Shell Art Sale on November 28th is going to be a fantastic event! With all the exciting new items for sale and the opportunity to support scholarships and educational programs, it's worth attending. We hope to see you there.
