The United Church of Marco Island (UCMI) has announced several updates to its worship schedule and the introduction of a meaningful new ministry focused on healing and prayer.
Beginning May 24 (Pentecost Sunday), the 8:30 AM worship service will transition to Reidel Chapel for the summer months. This more intimate service will include prayer, a scripture lesson, a brief meditation, weekly communion, and a closing hymn.
“We recognize that many in our congregation value the earlier worship time,” said Pastor Ed Brandt. “This summer format offers a meaningful, reflective experience in a more intimate setting.”
Additionally, beginning Sunday, May 31, UCMI will introduce a monthly Service of Wholeness and Healing during the 10:00 AM worship service on fifth Sundays throughout the year. During this service, participants will be invited to come forward for anointing with oil, laying on of hands, and prayer.
“Every one of us comes to worship carrying something—concerns, hopes, hurts, and prayers,” said Brandt. “This service is an opportunity to lift those burdens and experience God’s peace in a tangible way.”
Looking ahead, beginning June 7, the 10:00 AM worship service will be held in Disseler Hall as improvements are made to the sanctuary, including structural upgrades and enhancements.
The church also encourages congregational input as planning begins for the 2026–2027 ministry calendar, inviting members to submit ideas for programs, studies, concerts, and mission opportunities.
