The United Church of Marco Island and its Bargain Basket Missions Committee presented a $20,000 check to the Joy of Giving during Sunday worship on June 7. Pat Kaufman, representing the Missions Committee, joined Pastor Ed Brandt in presenting the gift to Allyson Richards and Nicki Davis, who accepted on behalf of the organization.
Founded on Marco Island, the Joy of Giving has been bringing Christmas joy to underprivileged children in Collier County since 1988, providing each nominated child with funds to shop for gifts, clothing, and essentials during the holiday season. What began with a single family has grown into a program that serves more than a thousand children each year, nominated by school counselors across Marco Island, North Naples, Golden Gate, and East Naples.
“This gift is a reflection of our incredible volunteers, faithful church members, and generous community supporters,” said Pastor Ed Brandt. “Every item donated, every shift volunteered, and every dollar given adds up to real, lasting impact in the lives of families right here in our community.”
The grant was funded through proceeds from the church’s Bargain Basket Thrift Store and gifts to its Missions Fund, which together support outreach efforts throughout Marco Island and greater Collier County.
