United Church of Marco Grant Supports Local Youth Ministries

Posted

Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to mission and community outreach, the United Church of Marco Island (UCMI) has awarded $20,000 in grants to two impactful organizations serving youth in Southwest Florida: $15,000 to Youth Haven and $5,000 to Camp Able.

These grants were made possible through the generosity of the congregation and proceeds from the church’s popular resale ministry, the Bargain Basket, which supports mission efforts both locally and beyond.

“Youth Haven and Camp Able are doing life-changing work with young people and their families,” said Rev. Ed Brandt, Pastor of UCMI. “We are grateful to partner with organizations that provide care, hope, and opportunity to those who need it most. This is a wonderful example of how our congregation’s generosity makes a real difference in our community.”

Youth Haven provides a safe and nurturing environment for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment, offering residential care, counseling, and educational support. The grant from UCMI will help sustain and expand these vital services for vulnerable youth.

Camp Able offers inclusive camp experiences for children and adults with special needs, creating opportunities for growth, friendship, and independence in a supportive environment. The $5,000 grant will help ensure that more individuals and families can participate in these meaningful programs.

“Our Mission Committee is intentional about supporting organizations that align with our values of compassion, service, and community engagement,” added Brandt. “These grants reflect our belief that the church is called not only to worship, but to serve.”

The United Church of Marco Island continues to be actively engaged in supporting local nonprofits, schools, and outreach initiatives throughout Marco Island and Collier County.
