The Marco Cruise Club Fifth Annual Poker Run

Posted

Marco Cruise Club's fifth annual Poker Run has once again proven to be a very successful way for members to get together and do what they love to do best, which is get on their boats and have fun. Each year, Captains have signed up their respective boats with crews numbering from six to eight members per boat to compete in the competition and win prizes.

Step One: Five locations were pre-defined for each boat to navigate to and pick up one envelope that contained numbered chips to be distributed to each member on their boat once they reached the FINAL destination for the Poker game to start.

Step Two: Once the Captains and crews arrived at the FINAL destination, members were called to exchange the chips for playing cards. This year, there were a total of 42 members participating in the event and competing for prizes. First Place went to Tyler Mercer, Second Place went to John Vollmer, and Third Place went to Dan Lange.

Each member had a chance to win extra chips by participating in an axe or star (soft plastic) bull's eye game and bean bag corn hole toss. Mother Nature, however, had something to say. She decided this year to create a challenge for everyone - that being cold, high winds, and a small craft warning.

That did NOT stop anyone. Members met the challenge, got in their cars, carpooled, played the games, and had a great time! She did manage to cancel two of the planned games due to high winds and the photographer did get axed, but happily no injuries were inflicted.

A delicious BBQ dinner was served at 5:00 PM, catered by Mission BBQ. Desserts were provided by event Hosts Mark and Michele Senda.

And last but not least, a big thank you goes to Hosts Michele and Mark Senda, the designated card dealers Sean McKeown, Commodore 2022 Bob Madaio, and assistant Saylor Stam, and ALL the members who volunteered their time to make this event such a huge success!
