Over 55 high-performancePorsche sports cars roared into the new location of Our Daily Bread Food Pantry (ODBFP) on San Marco Road on Saturday, November 15th, after a ‘call to action’ toload their cars with much needed food items.
According to Scott Harle, President of the Paradise Region Gruppe, this was their largest food drive caravan to Marco in six years, and they intend to continue to make it a Thanksgiving tradition. ODBFP is also the featured charity this month at the Cars and Coffee at the Mercato as part of the Porsche Club’s food drive initiative. For members who were not able to drive to Marco Island, this is another venue where members are encouraged to donate or bring non-perishable food items. The Paradise Region Gruppe club is a private and exclusive club for Porsche enthusiasts in SW Florida, boasting 900+ local members.
According to Ron McClay, volunteer for ODBFP, the Pantryserves thousands of households in Collier County each year and just moved into their new 5,000 square foot facility at 1818 San Marco Road on Marco. He added that just last Saturday, they served 1,214 families during the signature Saturday food pantry drive, and in the past six weeks, they have witnessed a 20% increase in families seeking assistance.
